Adding Custom Interiors to a Manufactured Home Can Make a Huge Difference

I’ve built a lot of custom offsite homes using wall panels and trusses and sold a lot of custom modular homes when I was a sales rep for several modular home factories but the one question I was asked during my time as a manufactured housing factory rep was about customizing a HUD home.

Customization 25 years ago meant I could add length to some models or reverse the floorplan but beyond that, forget it.

In Paradise Cove, California, renting a patch of ground slightly larger than a pickleball court for a few thousand dollars each month gets you a key to one of the best surfing beaches on the West Coast. On that patch of ground, or technically a foot or two above it, on metal struts, you can live in a souped-up manufactured home.

This particular manufactured home which was built to HUD standards was gutted by the owner and remodeled inside.

Can you imagine sitting in your new custom living room knowing that just a few steps away was the Pacific Ocean? Me too. And that sounds awesome.
