Central PA Lumber Yard Chain Rebuilds Destroyed Panel and Truss Factory – with video

In January 2021, Fire Destroyed One Of The Country’s Oldest Wall And Panel Plants. Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Allensville Planing Mill in PA, the plant I built all my walls and trusses from when I was a GC, is seeing a brand new 240,000 sq ft plant being built to replace the one that burned.

It was recently announced that Allensville Planing Mill (APM) was acquired by Your Building Centers (YBC). Rich Lender, President and CEO of YBC, reported, “We are looking forward to working with Joe Westover, Rob Morris, and the APM team to assure a smooth transition.”

Joe Westover, President of APM, said that YBC and APM are a great fit with their similar values and are pleased with the growth in career opportunities for current APM employees. Rob Morris, the APM CEO, looks forward to working with YBC and the APM Team, knowing that the new resources will only help to grow the APM business. APM and YBC have similar goals, cultures, and values in their respective markets, allowing for a continued commitment to providing exceptional products to customers. Rob stated this: “We are grateful to our Customers, Vendors, and Suppliers; this acquisition will continue to strengthen those relationships.”

APM began in 1959 by Karl Westover and has been part of the Central PA Business Community for over sixty years. The organization has three True Value® Hardware and Building Supplies Stores and manufactures Roof Trusses, Wall Panels, and Floor Trusses.  “We are grateful for all those who have helped APM throughout the last sixty years – past and present APM Team Members, Vendors and Suppliers, and loyal Customers. I believe that the future for APM has never been stronger,” said Joe Westover.
