FormFlow Component Modular Gearing Up a New Factory – with videos

The Victoria, Australia Government is backing a new housing manufacturing facility to be established in Portland by building products technology company FormFlow.

FormFlow will transform an unused airport hanger in Portland into a housing manufacturing facility.

Unlike a typical build that will start with the foundations on-site, FormFlow starts the building process in their factory. First, they start with welding and bolting together a steel structural frame, this is the bones of the new building. Then they install the particleboard flooring and prefabricated TRUECORE® steel wall frames. Using steel has many benefits. While it has a longer lifespan than timber, it is also the most recyclable material available and has a high precision rate.

Check out the videos below to see how their current system works.

Geelong-based FormFlow is pioneering novel technologies for the metal forming sector, including a range of modular building designs that are energy efficient, sustainable and relocatable.

The $2.35 million housing manufacturing facility will be capable of producing up to 200 relocatable houses a year for the Glenelg Shire and surrounding regions.
