UK’s Swan to Close Both Its Offsite and Modular Factories

In a move that caught some people by surprise, Swan, the Essex UK-based housing association, will close its LGS modular factory and its CLT housing factory in Basildon.

The stricken 11,000-home housing association has decided to close the loss-making facilities after last year breaching a regulatory standard when it lost control of development costs.

This is because the associations said they still needed “appropriate consents” and “commercial discussions” with third parties had yet to be concluded.

Instead, Sanctuary said it will offer managed services to Swan in the meantime.
